steppin' out 8-3-12 // date night

What do you get when your daughters reach the age where they actually want to leave you so they can go & play with their Mawmaw and Mamie & Pawpaw?

A sad momma (well, kinda. she doesn't HAVE to keep saying "but i want to leave!! like now, mommy!") but more importantly, date night!

{outfit deets~blouse & shorts--old navy//bag--target//bracelet cuff & sandals--forever21}

Last Friday while Brooklyn had a sleepover with her cousin Hadley at Dustin's parents house & while Emily had a pool party for 2 with my mom (seriously, this girl is a fearless fishie), Dustin & I got out for a simple date night. Steak sandwiches at Charley's (artery clogging deliciousness at it's finest here, friends) followed by a drink & dessert at the good ol' OG, and then {obviously} to Target {for theater contraband, of course. we were gorged full of food but what's a movie without watermelon sour patch?!}, and finally to the movie theater. It feels like we've been waiting for.ev.er to watch this and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. The ending? Amazing.

But? I gotta say. The Dark Knight is still my absolute favorite. I liked the story much much more. My husband on the other hand?

"Best movie I've seen in a long time. Actually, probably ever."
"Yeah I teared up. You didn't?!"
"My palms were sweating that whole time."
"I could go right back in & watch it again."
"....Do you want to?"

We didn't. My buttcheeks were numb enough for sitting there for over 3 hours. And we were out of candy.

Hope you all had a lovely weekend, as well. I'm reeeeeally hoping these next 4 days go by quick! I've got a lil' something planned for this weekend {i'm totally vague-booking right now, but blog suspense is fun, no?}

  1. I really, REALLY love your outfit. It's so cute and stylish:) and also I am the same way with the candy. We always eat before the movie and I'll be full but I'm like I have to have candy it just wont fee right lol. And I definitely agree about the story line, I like the other one better in that aspect.

  3. Lovely outfit :) I didn't like of the latest Batman movie, simply because I saw it badly dubbed in FRENCH. That was a bad one. I fell asleep 5 times!

  10. My siblings and I spent our entire childhood saying things like "Hey, Mom and Dad, you should go on a date!" because we loved (when we were little) being watched by our grandparents, and we especially loved it once we got a little older and took care of ourselves while Mom and Dad were away. And yes, inexplicably, my Mom was disappointed that her babies never cried or made any fuss about being left. :P
