Before I start getting weepy, let's chat about the party shall we?
Let's start with the day before her birthday. My mom & I took the girls to go pick up the cake. It's a little ways away to pick up, but worth it because this lady's cakes are so good. Ohio has been ridiculously warm this past week & Friday was no exclusion. By noon, it was 102 degrees, which I'm sure was the culprit of this...
Blasted humidity. It was such a cute cake, despite the crackling affect.
So that was the first thing to make my blood pressure creep upwards. Then the weather forecast all week had said hot with sunny clear skies for all weekend. Imagine our surprise when Friday evening Mother Nature has a temper tantrum. Wind, hail, trees down, power outages, rain, debris, black skies. It was awful. I hoped for the best for Saturday, but reports were saying another storm was headed our way for that afternoon.
So we postponed her party by a day. And? Not a single drop of rain & bright sunny skies Saturday afternoon. (Commence hair pulling now.) I was so irked. BUT we were determined to celebrate our girl on her birthday regardless.

After a day of watching (you guessed it) "Tangled" and Dora, we headed out for dinner & ice cream.
I spent the rest of the night stalking the weather channel, accuweather, weatherbug, and the local news. All said clear sunny skies until night.
And? They were right. It was an absolute gorgeous day. Perfect for an outdoor under the sea pool party. We held it in my mom's backyard, which is gorgeous, and it was the pefect place for a summer party.

{Blue "pool-minade" lol Just added 2 packets of berry blue Kool Aid to my Country Time lemonade mixture for a pretty aqua color}

Favor pails--I got the pails from the Target dollar bin & stickers from Etsy. They're filled with bags of sweedish fish, under the sea suckers from Oriental Trading, and sea life cookies from a local baker.

And the cake? Turned out just fine with a little fridge time. A little cracked, a little dented. But so yummy, along with the "sandy" (graham cracker) chocolate cupcakes with toppers from Etsy.

So after all the planning, the work, the mini caketastrophy, the storm from hell, the postponing, it was all a success. All worth it to celebrate such a beautiful special girl with great family & friends. Happy 2nd birthday, Emmy. You are so loved!
