The Big Move

The time has come. We got a delivery earlier this week & it's go time this weekend. A MONUMENTAL weekend of milestones.

Brookie's getting out the toddler bed. Emmy's getting out of the crib. And the toys are getting (the hell) out of my living room ::applause now::

We have a 3 bedroom home, so when we moved in it made most sense that each girl had their own room. Fast forward 2 years later, and we've somehow managed to outgrow the house we thought would fit us juuuust right.

So? It was time to make some room. That delivery? 2 twin beds & headboards. (Hold me.)

Growing up, I shared a room with my sister. I liked it, she didn't. Then again, she's also 9 years older than me so I see her point. However, our girls are only 22 months apart. They're buddies and into the same things. So the plan is to put both girls in Brookie's room (the bigger room) and turn the nursery into a play room.

Brooklyn is beyond excited for her new big girl bed. And I'm beyond nervous about Emily skipping the toddler bed & going straight into a twin. Don't worry though---Pinterest is helping us with precautions (more on that later.)

I'm also SUPER excited about getting to redecorate the nursery & make it a fun/girly/whimsical area for the girls to read, color, play, whatever suits their fancy. Brookie's room is already painted a fun yellow color (SW Friendly Yellow) and will have some tweeking done to it, but nothing too major like the toyroom. And being the gemini that I am, I've gone back & forth on what color to paint the walls & how to decorate. Again, Pinterest has been good to me and I think I've finally got an idea set in motion. It's going to have to be done a little bit at a time, but I'll be sure until the big reveal to post sneak peeks.

Like right now. I am positively smitten with these prints I just ordered from Gallerie Anais on Etsy.

Nursery Decor Baby Art Kids Numbers Children, heart, flowers, nursery bird, kids bird, pink green, Count To Ten 8x10 printNursery art prints, baby nursery decor, nursery wall art, kids art, kids bird, kids room decor, house, Up On The Roof 8x10 print
And here's a few more ideas I'm loving (for the time being...until I change my mind for the umpteenth time)...

I'm also on the hunt for an Etsy seller or shamazing artist to create a custom print for me for the girls room. It's a verse from our favorite book & for some reason, I can't find any online :(  And if you have any tips on redecorating or having siblings share a room---TELL ME!

Or maybe don't tell me....sugar coat it. They'll stay in their beds as soon as lights are out & not move an inch til daylight. Yeah, tell me that.

  3. I wanted to let you know we just moved my daughter who is 19 months straight from a pack and play to a twin bed skipping a toddler bed and she is doing great. We initially planned to use a bedrail but then decided to go without it so that she could comfortably sleep in any bed, giving us more flexibility. I tried a pool noodle under the sheet and it never really worked out it would just roll to the side of the bed whenever she rolled near it. But I can say that after a few nights of falling out of bed onto the pile of pillows on the floor she now sleep great. She even knows that she doesn't get out of bed until the morning which was a pleasant surprise.

Good luck with the transition I think we make it much worse in our minds than it actually ends up being.

    1. That's what we got for the twin bed, pool noodles. At least if it fails, we'll have toys for this summer lol

You're giving me high hopes! Hopefully it's a smooth weekend in the Stauffer house.

  4. Oh the joys of having 2 girls! I think they'll both just love it! Good luck and I'll be thinking of you this weekend. I'm too chicken to move Braden into a toddler bed...and he's almost 2 years 3 months! We will have to before baby #2 though!

    1. Thanks, love. We moved Brookie into the toddler bed at 20 months so we could get the crib ready for baby Emmy's arrival. And she did so well, I'm nervous it'll be the complete opposite with little sis. I'm gonna need that luck! lol

  7. Hey Ashley! 1st, both of my boys didn't like toddler beds, so we went straight from crib (then a small effort with a toddler bed) to a twin bed. They love their twin beds! 2nd, my boys are 17 months apart and they have always shared a room. I won't lie, sometimes it is hard when one wakes up at night...the other one sometimes then gets awakened, but not always. I stay in their room with them until they go to sleep (takes about 10-20 min.), then it is pretty smooth sailing. I can't wait to see your decor! I bet it will be great! My advice is just set the rules and stick with them from day 1. And, GOOD LUCK! Sounds like a fun weekend! LOL
