11 Months

Really....really?!?! Already?!?!?
Emmy Kay, you are 11 months old today & I'm baffled by this. This is my last month post because in 1 month, I'll be posting a YEAR post. Just doesn't seem possible.

Emily has definately learned some new tricks this past month. She learned to go from lying to sitting by herself. She learned to put herself up standing. And on May 20th {at 10.5-ish months old}, she started crawling. Seeing those chunky thighs & squishy tush move so fast on all fours is hysterical.

She is a die hard Momma's girl....and I love it.

But I'm in competition with big sister here. Emily is absolutely smitten with Brooklyn. Yeah, they get easily annoyed with each other {Brooklyn "Mommmmma! Emmy licked my elbooooow!" Emily "SQWAAAAK!"} but when they have gigglefests or when they smooch so sweetly, it makes it all worth it.
I can't say how much of a help Brookie has always been with Em. Checking on her, getting diapers, rubbing in lotion, brushing her hair, applying lip gloss....
picking her nose.....
Now that's not saying she doesn't steal toys & push over, because that happens o'plenty around here, but I can just already see such a special bond between these 2 sisters.

She's not saying much, just mainly doing alot of sqwaking. Brookie was the same way. Barely said 5 words until 18 months & then had vocab vomit. But Emily does say Mama, Dada, Sis, Bahba (bottle), NoNoNo, and Up.

Emily went to the doctor last week, for a darn infected toe :(, and she weighed in at 22 lbs 6 oz. She's in size 12-18 and some 18 month. She's down right smooshable & I adore it. An older woman standing behind us at Kohls made the comment that her thighs looked like "ham hocks"....but backpeddled & told me that HE was a beautiful baby. Ya, HE. Nothing says boy than a child dressed in a jean jacket with butterflies, a pair of pink leggings, and a purple headband. Oy.

Sleep...ahhh, it's good. Ya'll know Brookie didn't STTN until she was 15 months old. And didn't acutally put herself to sleep on her own until she went into a toddler bed around 20 months. So to have a baby that's been sleeping through the night {besides the normal teething pain/ fever wake ups} since she was 7-8 months is sanity saving.

She loves to feed herself...most of it ends up in roll crevices, her hair, and the highchair, but she's learning!

She is such a joy in my life. In everyone's lives. Our families adore her, our friends adore her, she's just awesome.

And turning a year old. My *maybe probably last* baby is growing up.
Bring on the cake
Bring on the presents
Bring on the fun!
Bring on the tissues... :(

Ohemgee you guys...I just shed a tear posting these memory lane pics. I'm such a Sappy Sally.

Just a Taste....

I've been waiting for a couple more of Emily's party items to arrive before I post a birthday sneak peek...but I was too excited to not post these right away!

Thanks to Vista Print, I lost about 3 hours of my afternoon (shout out to a baby that takes 3 hour naps & a toddler who's obsessed with 'Madagascar', 'Max and Ruby', and coloring). I couldn't resist when I got an email this morning about 20 invitations for $7.99! It didn't mention when the sale was ending, so I hoped right on it.

I can't believe I just ordered my baby girl's birthday invitations. Didn't her belly stump just fall off?!?!

Without further ado, here's the front. Every picture I get of her, she's doing something silly with her tongue.

And the back. This is what took me the longest because I just couldn't get satisfied. {I live up to my Gemini status, that's fo sho.} I finally settled with this & I'm not THRILLED, but I'm satisfied....semi satisfied.
You'll notice the address is missing....I'd love to invite all ya'll because there will be cake pops a'plenty, but we have limited parking ;)
Cute, right?!

Andplusalso, I got 140 return address labels for free. They had about 3,000 to chose from...which took me another hour to go over. But hey, free is free!

Here are a few outakes from a lil photo shoot today. As you can tell, mini is putting it mildly. She was done after about 8 minutes.

Instead of Brookie being my "smile, look over here!!" helper, she was in cahoots with Emmy to just make a mess. (Or should I say more of a mess? I'm in dire need of a few new totes to store all Em's 6-12 clothes...already....)
Silly girl.

Stay tuned! More birthday fun in a post soon!

Okay okaaaay. I've seriously been neglecting my blog. We have been so busy since coming home from Vegas, some days I have no clue how I even managed to leave the house with matching scrubs on & mascara on both eyes. It's birthday central around these parts with my Momma's on Thursday, mine in 2 weeks, and Emmy's RAPIDLY approaching.

I promise I have a fun post coming with sneak peaks at her birthday party. I get down right giddy just thinking about it. Ohhh how I wish I knew about Etsy when I was planning my wedding 4 years ago. And I also have a post about my "25 off by 26"....gaining 4 lbs on vacay is not my idea of a happy birthday. Ugh.

Until then, I leave you with 2 pictures that made me smile...hopefully they will for you too :)

Dr. Brookie taking good care of Thumper with her "steffiscope necklace, like Momma!"

Didja Miss Me?!

HI!!

We're back from Vegas...actually, we've been back for a week now. But I'm honestly just getting over jet lag. It was a bitch lemme tell you. I think I'm finally on Ohio time {definately not on Ohio weather though. It is May, right?!?!?}

So, I took over 200 pictures in Vegas. A good chunk of them were just of the strip, it was absolutely gorgeous. Another good chunk of them were random pictures {did I say random? I meant drunken}. So I'll just stick with some favs.

We left Thursday at 4a and took off for Phoenix around 7a. Then we got to Phoenix around 8a, after an almost 4 hour flight, and had a 3 hour layover, that sucked. When we finally got on our flight to Vegas we were getting pretty excited. I missed the girls terribly already, but I knew that they were in good hands. Best of all, we left behind a book with our recorded voices reading to them so every night, we could read our story together. It was too bad the flight to Vegas was so bumpy & nausea inducing. It was a rough 90 minutes. But around 1p, we were FINALLY there! My SIL Michelle was there to meet us there & take us to our hotel.

We decided to stay on Freemont Street instead of the strip (mainly for cost reasons & we were told Freemont was more fun than the strip.) We chose The Golden Nugget {this link will take you to their pool page because their pool was absolutely shamazing!} and it was pretty nice. Although the next time we go out there, we'll stay on the strip. Not that Freemont wasn't fun, it's that there is SO much more to do on the strip.

Our first day we were just ready to relax by the pool...and drink. Alot.
Told ya the pool was shamazing.

Here's the shark tank where you slide through.

Dustin was like a 5 year old sliding down then running straight back to the line to go again.

Um..ya....
Only like 5 lil bottles went missing from here, true story.

Because who needs a lil nip when you've got the option of 64 oz of anything you want?!? Trust me when I say you're one & done with this guy.

Our first night in Vegas was tons of fun. We stayed on Freemont & hit up the casinos there & the Gold Digger club at the GN. My husband also bogarted every single paper towel from the men's room and somehow they became breasts for him. Oh yes, I have photo proof...but I think the mental image is sufficient :)

The greatest thing about Vegas was the food. Ohmygravy it was so good. Every morning started out a lil something like this...
Coffee for the hangover, mimosas for round 2. Defeats the purpose, kinda like ordering a Big Mac with a diet coke, but hey, when in Vegas!

We went on the strip on Friday, our 2nd night, and it was absolutely beautiful.

Dustin was SO bummed when he realized we were 1 week late in planning our trip. Stevie was performing at Caesar's the Saturday after we left =(

I have SO many pictures of the strip from this night, but this one about sums it up.

Saturday I got an early Mother's Day gift. Dustin had planned out for me to have a spa day on Sunday, but when we got there we were told that the spa in the hotel would be closed all weekend :( I think my runner up gift was muuuch better though, dontcha think?
Ah.Lurve. And the fact he picked it out by himself & got a good price on it makes it even better.

Saturday we stayed by the pool all day. We decided to shell out extra money to rent lounges a the H2O bar & pool on the roof and it was so worth it.

Saturday night we went a hibachi grill in our hotel lobby. We'd never been to one before & this guy was awesome!

We stayed on Freemont Saturday & met up with Dustin's sister & BIL for some fun.
The best part of Freemont was the ceiling. The street is outside, obviously, but mostly covered & they played band tributes on the ceiling.

With Michelle & Ryan, Vegas residents {and pros!}
After too many cherry vodka & Red Bulls, too many hands of BlackJack, too many pieces of pizza, too many laughs & stumbles, we made our walk of shame to our hotel room @ 530am. I decided to call Brookie before we went to sleep & she was so confused as to why we were going to sleep when it was "cereal time".

Sunday we decided to go back to the strip to see the things we'd missed on Friday.

The Bellagio water show was stunning.

The Mirage's volcano eruption.

Okay, so see all these figures carved out?
This is just the tip of a mammoths tusk. And these carvings were found on it. Amazing, right?

Monday, our last day, it actually rained in Vegas & was jacket chilly. We took it as a sign that it was definately time to go home. Our flight didn't leave until 11p & we had to check out by noon, so we had alot of time to waste.

So we decided to do the zipcord through Freemont. There we are on the left.
I was scurred. Especially since they make you sign, initial, & date about 5 pages of forms first. Oh & they weigh you first as well. Nothing makes you wanna fall a couple hundred feet than seeing you've gained 4 lbs in 5 days. Ugh.

We met up with Michelle & Ryan for dinner and they brought the boys along. Aren't our nephews handsome?!? We haden't seen them since June 2009, so we were all pretty excited.

When we got to the airport, it was such a mess. First our luggage was too heavy. Anything over 50 lbs, they charge $90 extra on top the of $25 manditory fee. Ours weighed 53. So we had a long line behind us & like 10 seconds to shove 3 lbs of crap into our already stuffed carry ons. We get it done....then realize 15 minutes later after we go through security that Dustin lost his cell phone charger & probably left it during the switch.
Then our flight is delayed an "hour". That turned into an hour & a half. But our connecting flight in Charlotte was right on time. So when we finally get off our Vegas plane (never taking a red eye again, comfort & sleep is impossible), we have exactly 6 minutes until our Charlotte flight home takes off. We had 6 minutes to get from Gate A10 to Gate E24. Did I mention that I don't run? My side aches & I get short winded after a brisk jog. But Dustin, Mr. High School Cross Country, gave me no choice. We RAN. Maybe threw in a couple elbows. Cut a few people off. But we made it, seriously about 30 seconds before they shut the door. My chest was on fire, I cut my foot running barefoot through an airport (had to take off the flops), and BEST OF ALL when we landed, they told us our luggage was put on a different flight because they didn't think we'd make it on the 730a.
The vein in Dustin's temple grew larger by the second.
We finally got home, Dustin's dad picked us up & drove us home, and when I saw we were on our street, I couldn't wait any longer. Before the car was even in park, I was out the door running to my babies. Emily had just fallen asleep, but Brookie was there to greet me. It was the best feeing ever, her hugs & kisses after 5 days!! And Em, I swear she grew while we were away!

Dustin was so happy to be home....until our suitcase was delivered to our house..broken...
The airline was very nice though & took our empty broken one with them and are sending us a brand new one free of charge.

SO Vegas was a success mainly. We had so much fun together, just being a couple. A smitten couple, without formula stains on our shirts & crushed goldfish in our hair. It was nice to get away...it was even better to come home.
