So even though our house was "move in ready", we've decided to do some alot of upgrading. It's going to take some time to get it exactly how we want it, but we're doing as much as we can now. We'll start with the bedrooms. {These pics are from my cell phone so some are pretty unfocused and blurry.}
Here's Brooklyns big girl room right now....
A big perk to us getting this house was the closet space! As you can see from the top picture, in Brookie's room she has two seperate closets. And both have built in drawers which is awesome. Sprout's nursery has one small closet, so we'll more than likely use one of these closets for Brookie & one for Sprout. And we're really saving on her furniture because we're using our niece Hadley's old toddler bed which is good as new!
As some of you remember, we decided on this bedding for Brooklyns toddler bed...
so we..errrr I..decided on a pale yellow for her room. She has soooo many pink and brown accesories and wall hangings and she's such a happy girl, I thought yellow would be perfect. I wanted it to be warm and soft, so we got Sherwin Williams "Friendly Yellow"
(Side note---the yellow here appears much more tan than the paint chip. Think more butterish)
Now onto Sprout's nursery...
I didn't get a picture of the other side, but beside the doorway is a door to her closet, which we'll mainly use for extra supplies like diapers, wipes, stuffed animals, etc. And totes of big sissy Brooklyns clothes for her to grow into.
And here's Sprout's nusery bedding (remember the steal I got on this over $250 set?)
Sprout will be using Brooklyns old crib (hope she doesn't mind Lil Chucks teeth marks on the rails!) and her white dresser that we'll also use as a changing table.
I couldn't decide on what paint scheme for the room. I went back and forth between a pink, a sage, or even a pale blue. In the end, I decided that we had quite a bit of pink accents so we went with a sage color called "Softened Green" from Sherwin Williams.
(Once again, this is a bit off. Think more sagey.)
Now onto our room. Dustin & I have been together for 7 years and we've always had hand me downs. NOT that we didn't appreciate them, but once we found our house we really wanted to get some new things for ourselves. I mean, we've had the same bedding for the past 5 years. It was time to upgrade!
So here's our bedroom...
Now onto furniture. We went to Value City and started our search. I love dark wood, sleigh beds, but I had also wanted a bed that had built in drawers underneath.
Well 2 outta 3 ain't bad. No drawers, but I got my dark wood and sleigh bed! We decided to get a queen bed, 2 of the side bed tables, and the 6 drawer chest and decided aginst the side by side dresser with mirror. We also got a Beautyrest mattress and box spring. All that plus shipping (where they'll bring everything in and put together for us) and taxes came out to about $1,400!!! SCORE!
Bedding wise, we decided on this (although I reeeeeally wanted the lime version of this, Dustin actually put a firm Nope! on that one *sad face*)
Painting wise we've decided to just keep the neutral color that's already on the walls.....for now ;)
So there's our bedrooms! I'll keep you posted as we update the rooms (stay tuned for the disastrous wallpaper tragedy in our living room and dining room!) and the rest of our new home.
